We pray for the transformation which Jesus brings. This Christmas, we remember the coming of Jesus to our world, and the promise of hope which that brings with it. We pray that the trans-formative power of Jesus might be felt in all communities around the world today.
We pray for those weighed down by debt in 2021. An estimated six million people in the UK have fallen behind on one or more household bill as a result of Covid-19, with the biggest increases in debt amongst the poorest households. We pray for the #ResetTheDebt campaign in 2021 and for those trapped in debt next year.
We pray for EU citizens in the UK. Most EU and EEA citizens will need to apply for a new immigration status under the Settlement Scheme by June 2021. We pray for those who will find this process difficult or stressful, and pray that all EU citizens at home in the UK will be able to sign up successfully.
We pray for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. This historic treaty will enter into legal force in January 2021. We thank you for the work of campaigners and policy-makers which has brought this about, and pray for those whose lives continue to be marked by the adverse effects of nuclear weapons use and testing.
We pray for COP26. The global climate conference, rescheduled from 2020, will be taking place in Glasgow in 2021. We pray for ambition and action from world leaders on climate change, and pray that those already affected by climate chaos would be kept safe and secure.
We pray for people who will be homeless in 2021. As we look towards the new year, people experiencing homelessness will once again be faced with a new set of distinct challenges. We pray for ambitious outreach and preventative measures from organisations and government this year.
