Order of Service

Prelude
Scripture & Gathering
Christ is risen!
Christ is risen indeed!
Call to Worship
One: Christ is risen! Rejoice, for the tomb is empty!
All: Rejoice and be glad!
One: Like spring flowers that turn to the light,
All: we open ourselves to the light of Christ.
One: Alleluia! Christ is risen!
All: Christ is risen indeed. Alleluia!

Hymn RS 232 Christ, the Lord, is risen today
Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Let creation join to say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing ye heavens; thou earth reply, Alleluia!

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Lo! Our sun’s eclipse is o’er, Alleluia!
Lo! He sets in blood no more, Alleluia!

Vain the stone, the watch, the seal, Alleluia!
Christ has burst the gates of hell, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids His rise, Alleluia!
Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia!

Lives again our glorious king, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Dying once, he all doth save, Alleluia!
Where’s thy vict’ry, boasting grave? Alleluia!

Soar we now, where Christ has led, Alleluia!
Following our exalted head, Alleluia!
Made like him, like him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

Hail the Lord of earth and heaven, Alleluia!
Praise to thee by both be given, Alleluia!
Thee we greet triumphant now, Alleluia!
Hail the resurrection Thou! Alleluia!

Scripture
Hymn Easter day people by Peter Pay
Easter day people, frightened and amazed,
see the empty tomb and hear that he is raised!
We are saved by faith, that’s God’s own righteousness,
calling humankind to follow and be blest.

We are God’s people; opened is heaven’s door!
Sing we now his praises; serve him evermore.

Message
Communion Hymn RS 452 Let us break bread together
Let us break bread together in the Lord
Let us break bread together in the Lord.
When I fall on my knees
with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

Let us drink wine together in the Lord,
Let us drink wine together in the Lord.
When I fall on my knees
with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

Let us praise God together in the Lord,
Let us praise God together in the Lord.
When I fall on my knees
with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

Sharing the Meal
Prayer of Thanksgiving:
God of resurrection and new life, thank you for this Easter celebration! Thank you for strengthening us with the Bread of Life. We promise to be the living Body of Christ, nourished by this special meal. Use us in these challenging times to share the hope and promise of new life, the Easter message. Amen.

Closing Hymn RS 238 Good Christians all, rejoice and sing!
Good Christians all, rejoice and sing!
Now is the triumph of our King!
To all the world glad news we bring:
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

The Lord of life is ris'n today;
Bring flowers of song to strew his way.
Let all the world rejoice and say
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Praise we in songs of victory
that Love, that Life, which cannot die,
and sing with hearts uplifted high:
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Your name we bless, O risen Lord,
And sing today with one accord
The life laid down, the Life restored.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
