Gambolling in Salisbury hills -- Leslie Shaw

Walking through Holy Week

Welcome to this week's devotion created for your use at home during this Holy Week spent in physical social isolation and virtual social connection. Through this medium we connect as Church, so important during this time of Covid-19. May this devotion and the links provided help you stay connected to God and the wider community.

Thanks for sending items to share -- news, a prayer, song, Bible verse, reflection, photo . Thanks to Leslie for the pastoral photo 'Gambolling in Salisbury', taken on her daily walk.
Blessings & peace, Ana & Tod

6. The Risen Lord

His were the hands

by Duncan Wilson, URC
His were the hands
That shaped the wood
That smoothed the knot
That summoned the friends
And launched the boat

His were the hands
That touched the blind
And opened ears
That held the child
And cast out fears

His were the hands
That fingered the coin
That plucked the corn
That wrote in sand
And stilled a storm

His were the hands
That calmed the crowd
That broke the bread
And shared the fish
Till all were fed

His were the hands
That filled the bowl
That took the towel
And washed their feet
On bended knee

His were the hands
That stretched out wide
That folded in prayer
That yielded to nails
That measured his care

His were the hands
That gave them joy
When shown to friends
With scars that marked
His LOVE without end.

A message of hope

by Wayne Hawkins

When I am safe in the shallow end
with my feet firmly on the floor,
when I am surrounded by the familiar
and content with what I think I know,
may I hear afresh your gracious invitation
to wade out into deeper waters,
to make new discoveries
and be open to new possibilities.

When I am in deep waters
and feel out of my depth,
when I am beyond my comfort zone
and see and understand myself all too clearly,
when I look with longing
for the safety of the shallow end again,
may I hear your voice saying,
"Don't be afraid."
Love equals distance & solidarity
