Spreading Love & Hope...

Welcome to today's devotion created for your use at home during these days of physical social isolation and virtual social connection. We connect as Church through telephone & technology, so important during this time of Coronavirus. May this devotion and the links provided help you stay connected to God and the wider community.

If you have items to share -- news, a prayer, song, Bible verse, reflection, photo -- please send it by email (just click on the blue envelope-icon) so we can share them. Thanks to Chris for the photo of wild daffodils at Dinton.

Music moves people.
It connects people, in ways no other medium can. It pulls heartstrings;
it acts as medicine.'

Grace

Grace is an energy;
not a mere thought of the Almighty;
not even a word of the almighty.
It is as real an energy
as the energy of electricity.
It is a divine energy;
it is the energy of the divine affection rolling plenteousness
toward the shore of human need.

Prayer for these times

A Psalm a day: Psalm 7

Psalm 7
O Lord my God, in you I take refuge

Help!
Basically, Psalm 7 is a cry for help. Things aren't going so well, so... we turn to God our refuge, our shelter from the storm blast.

Tod and I are reading a novel based on the life of George Mallory the mountaineer. On one of his earlier climbing adventures, he and a mate resort to snuggling up with one another in a single sleeping bag inside a thin tent in order to retain what body heat they can. As George tells his young wife this tale, I was reminded of our need for one another, not just for comfort but for survival. And we have that same need for God -- to snuggle up close with God so that we can be warmed and refueled to face the morning light.

Our God and our community, the living Body of Christ, sustain us. What a blessing that we are finding ways to stay connected through the telephone and the computer, and waving at our neighbours and fellow walkers. And with God... through prayer.

Eternal One, thank you for being willing always to wrap yourself around us, filling us with life and sustenance for the day and weeks ahead.

Virtual Zoom Worship

in the midst of the congregation
I will praise you.
Psalm 22:22 and Hebrews 2:12
'Uplifting'
'It was good to see so many faces.'
'It felt like a true community.'
'It felt as if we were together.'
'And we didn’t even have to find a parking space!'
What a wonderful experience, to gather as a congregation to praise God. Who would have thought that an on-line worship service could bring us into 'true community'? It was a blessed gathering of spirit. The technology (called Zoom) created a powerful worship-in-the-round experience, with everyone sitting comfortably in the front row/pew! True spiritual unity and equilibrium. We're already looking forward to next Sunday!
