Spreading Love & Hope...

Welcome to today's devotion. With church gatherings suspended, we gather and share through telephone & technology. If you have something to share -- news, a prayer, a song, a reflection -- please send them to us at [email protected] so we can share them through these newsletters. Blessings & peace, Ana & Tod

Today's Reflection

earth from space
Our world needs healing. Our minds and souls are often not at peace as we consider the future. God offers us peace in the midst of the turmoil and unknowing, the true Peace of Christ. May we each open our hearts and minds to receive it.

Healing on the Sabbath
Tune: Old Winchester Old Click above to play the tune so you can sing along.
by Georgeo Stuart, Australia

When Jesus healed on Sabbath days,
He broke the sacred law;
The power structures were appalled;
Were shocked by what they saw.
For breaking of the Sabbath rules
Was such a heinous crime;
But Jesus taught that giving care
Was right at any time.

Laws cannot bind the gen’rous soul
Nor halt love’s strong embrace;
We cannot regulate good deeds
Nor govern gifts of grace.
The time to give support and care
Is now and every day;
When love was needed, it was there;
This was the Jesus Way.

To fail to see the work of God
In acts of gen’rous care
Shows blindness and a hardened heart;
Of this we should beware!
When love is given and received
God is revealed each time;
When love is given and received
It renders life sublime.

Today's Prayers

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have issued a national call for a day of prayer for the nation for tomorrow Sunday 22nd March and asked everyone to place a lit candle in a window at 7 pm as a visible sign of the light of Christ, our source of hope in prayer.
Living God,
daily you create the world, remake it,
and fill it with possibilities.
When it comes to faith,
help us to appreciate what we understand,
to enquire about what we don’t understand,
and to respect the journey in between.
--by John Pritchard, Bishop of Oxford

Today's prayer:
Help us be patient with what we don't understand,
Calm about new knowledge we receive each day,
Wise in sharing the known and unknown with our children and neighbours.
