Spreading Love & Hope...

Welcome to today's devotion created for your use at home during these days of physical social isolation and virtual social connection. May this devotion and the links provided help you stay connected to God and the wider community.

Thanks to Ted for the wisteria and clematis photos, and to Alice, Ashley, Lydia & Ryan for your artwork. Please send in photos of the items you create each week so we can share them.

CHORUS
The language of love,
the language of love
Send the wings of a dove
Spreading the language,
the language of love
love stone
Click on the blue button above to listen to the 'The Language of Love', a joint venture of women from Uganda and
the UK supported financially by World Day of Prayer. (Ana sits on the National Executive of WDP.)

'This has been a remarkable project combining the women of Marple UK with the women in Uganda. The Marple UK Women’s Institute choir called the Rolling Scones and choir of Offerton Methodist Church have joined with the Lira Women’s Group in Uganda, supported by Daniel Natiigo and the Lugave Choir, for friendship and joint projects. One of the WI ladies has written the song to help raise funds for the the charities, Helping Uganda Schools (HUGS) and Bury African Outreach (BAO).

Prayer for a Pandemic

'Simon Densham sent me this prayer for a pandemic which others have found helpful so here it is.' --from Cecil King, Bemerton Methodist Church

May we who are merely inconvenienced
Remember those whose lives are at stake.
May we who have no risk factors
Remember those most vulnerable.
May we who have the luxury of working at home
Remember those who have to choose between preserving their health or making their rent.
May we who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close
Remember those who have no options.
May we who have to cancel our trips
Remember those who have no safe place to go.
May we who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market
Remember those who have no money at all.
May we who have to settle for a quarantine at home
Remember those who have no home.
As fear grips our country,
Let us choose love.
During this time when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other,
Let us yet find ways to be the loving embrace of God to our neighbours.
Amen.

A Psalm a day: Psalm 20

Psalm 20:9
Give victory to the king, Eternal One;
answer us when we call.

Psalm 20 reminds us to pray for our leaders -- for Monarchs, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Emperors.

Pray with me.
Eternal One, we pray for our leaders. Grant them wisdom, perseverence, health, goodwill and a caring heart. Empower them when they need power. Humble them when they need humility. Free them from arrogance, fear and prejudice. Eternal One, answer us when we call. Amen.
