Spreading Love & Hope...
Welcome to today's devotion. These resources have been gathered for your use at home during these days of physical social isolation and virtual social connection. May this devotion and the links provided help you stay connected to God and the wider community. The flowers pictured above now adorn the front window at Salisbury URC - thanks Alison and Joan.

If you have items to share -- a prayer, song, Bible verse, reflection, photo, link -- please send it, so we can share them with everyone.

Holy Pollinator
a prayer by Maren Tirabassi
Holy Spirit, Pollinator, with the hopes for justice and change we cannot share by ourselves on your feet, the seeds of the future depend on your wide wings your sharp sting, and our ability to prevent destruction of the habitat of compassion, by monocultures of violence, the invasive species of so many legitimated greeds, and powerful pesticides of willful lies and hate-culture. Holy Spirit, Pollinator, you whom we named wind and bird, open our hearts to fragile wasp, fly, bat, beetle, moth, bee and butterfly, crawl all over us, hover. amen.

Virtual Choir and Orchestra of 300 people from 15 Countries
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, 300 people from 15 different countries came together to participate in a virtual rendition of the beautiful song "You'll Never Walk Alone" from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Carousel.
“I left New York City on March 14, anticipating a short absence. The Brooklyn College Choir had been preparing for performances with the New York Philharmonic, and then that was gone. Arriving home in Iowa, I found comfort in playing the beautiful song from the musical Carousel, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’ I embarked on collaborating online like so many others are doing. What started to fill the void of music collaboration has evolved to new meaning for me with the lengthened quarantine.
Hopefully, the words, ‘you'll never walk alone,’ along with the visual of 300 people joining together offers the audience some comfort and peace during this time. Stay safe and healthy my friends!"

Relax in God
This is a relaxation practice to bring your heart and mind into coherence which helps release tension, stress, and anxiety and cultivates calm, peace, and clarity.
Place your hand or finger on heart: Breathe deeply (peace state happens). Think of who or what you CARE about. Think of who or what you APPRECIATE. Think of who or what you have GRATITUDE ABOUT. Think of who or what you are or have COMPASSION ABOUT.
This will bring the heart and mind into coherence.
Note: you only need to focus on one or two of the qualities. The more you can FEEL them, the better. You should do this for at least three minutes at a time.
This practice is adapted from Reiki, a Japanese system of relaxation which is an embodied prayer connecting with the universal energy, life force, and love of God.

Deadline for voting for your favourites is tomorrow, 31 July. The theme is 'Historic Britain' submitted for the Salisbury Church 2021 Calendar fundraiser.
