A Prayer for Today by Wayne Hawkins
When I am safe in the shallow end with my feet firmly on the floor, when I am surrounded by the familiar and content with what I think I know,
may I hear afresh your gracious invitation to wade out into deeper waters, to make new discoveries and be open to new possibilities.
When I am in deep waters and feel out of my depth, when I am beyond my comfort zone and see and understand myself all too clearly, when I look with longing for the safety of the shallow end again,
may I hear your voice saying, 'Don't be afraid.'

During this season of pandemic
a prayer from the World Church Group of Wessex Synod
By Ana Gobledale Global God, Your embrace circles the globe Pulsating wholeness, hope and justice into every heart. During this season of pandemic As Covid-19 sweeps across the lands
We cry out to you, Not just for ourselves but for your beloved family, For our sisters and brothers in Zambia Where church choirs are silent, coffers are empty,
crowded communities await safe passage. Bless our gifts moving into their midst, helping meet their needs.
We cry out to you, For our neighbours in France Breathing the air we share in this corner of the globe, Breathing in the hope of an atmosphere free of virus.
We cry out to you, For our neighbours in Fiji and other CWM links in the Pacific, That their safety bubbles may be signs of hope to us all.
Global God, During this season of pandemic As Covid-19 sweeps over the lands,
the cleaning of the air and water around the globe, The enhanced songs of birds, The sacred silence settling, replacing the noises of modernity, the neglected gardens now tended, The unknown neighbours befriended each Thursday evening As we clap our appreciation.
Global God, During this season of pandemic As your embrace circles the globe, Fill our hearts and minds with a renewed commitment As stewards of this earth and neighbours to one another,
This we pray, as your beloved family. Amen.
