Prayers for our World

We pray for rising malaria cases in Pakistan following the floods. The UN reported 44,000 malaria cases last week in Southern Pakistan. God, in the wake of these terrible floods, we pray for the spread of waterborne diseases to reduce and for the provision of financial and physical aid to the overstretched health services of Pakistan.

On the first day of Black History Month, we give thanks for this opportunity to celebrate the often unexplored or ignored history of our black brothers and sisters. God, help us to use this month to encourage greater education about black history and activism against racism in all its forms.

We give thanks for the Danish government’s promises to compensate nations damaged by climate change. God, we thank you for the integrity demonstrated by the Danish government, and pray that their example will inspire other countries around the world to acknowledge their choices and to compensate the parts of the world affected most significantly by climate change.

We pray for the challenges raised by the damage to the Nord Stream pipeline, which is likely to create greater pressure on gas prices in Europe. God, we ask for the damage to be fixed quickly and for the ramifications to be minimised

We pray for the likely wave of Covid and flu over the autumn and winter this year. God, we pray particularly for those who are vulnerable to come forward for vaccinations. We pray for the resource and strength of health services over this difficult period.

We pray for the impact of social media on mental health, as the inquest into Molly Russell’s death continues. God, we pray for those responsible for social media sites to make wise choices about how to protect young and vulnerable people online.

We pray for the unrest in Iran, where more than 76 protestors have been killed. God, protect those who are demanding women’s rights in Iran from further harm. We pray that the hearts of those in power will be changed to enable freedom for all.
