Daily Prayers for our World

We pray for Ukraine amid the Russian invasion. We lament the use of armed force, and mourn every casualty of conflict. God, comfort those who grieve and those who are fearful. Bring your peace we pray.

We give thanks for those in Russia who are bravely standing against war. Nearly 2000 Russians have been detained for protesting against the invasion of Ukraine. God, we honour the immense courage these people have shown in speaking out. We pray for their safety and release, and that their protest would not be in vain.

We give thanks for revolutionary new treatments for sickle cell disease. A monthly infusion of Crizanlizumab will allow patients to have a better quality of life, reduce trips to A&E by almost half and save lives. God, we thank you for this treatment, and pray that care for sickle cell patients would continue to improve.

We pray for MPs and Lords to consider the most vulnerable and marginalised as two key bills return to Parliament. The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill and the Nationality and Borders Bill will be discussed in the Houses of Commons and Lords respectively today. God, we pray for legislation that is just and caring. Help politicians to make wise choices.

We pray for those affected by flooding in the aftermath of three major storms. Several areas of the country are increasingly at risk from frequent and severe flooding, encouraged by climate change. God, we pray for those facing damage to their homes and businesses. Help us to better adapt to and mitigate for the impacts of climate change, so that suffering would be minimised.

We pray for those who are more vulnerable to Covid-19. As all legal restrictions have ended and testing will soon no longer be free, many are fearing the impact Covid may have on them if free to run through the country. God, we pray that they would be protected from the virus. May we all continue to exercise compassion, care, and responsibility.

We pray for the protection of religious minorities in Pakistan. Recent months have seen reports of two mob lynchings after accusations of blasphemy, as well as the murder of Pastor William Siraj. God, we mourn these deaths. We pray that freedom of religious belief would be protected for all faiths and none.
