Daily Prayers for our World

on Holocaust Memorial Day, We pray for all those who were affected by the Holocaust, as well as all instances of genocide in the years since. God, we pray for your justice to be done, and for a world in which all are seen as they are, made in your image.

We keep Afghanistan in our Prayers.  The people are suffering one of their worst winters and there are many many people suffering. Poor homes and no shelter in the remote villages and mountain areas with very little to eat and means of keeping warm.  Food is expensive and very little work is available.                             Afghanistan seems to have been forgotten and Aid seems to have dwindled.

We give thanks for the new government scheme to offer £600 million to support the largest steelmaking companies to make their production less damaging to the environment. God, we thank you for this practical response to the climate crisis, and pray that the changes made in these steel companies will reduce carbon dioxide levels.

We give thanks for the high-profile voices being raised against British banks’ financing of fossil fuels in the ‘Make my Money Matter’ campaign. God, we thank you for increased awareness of this issue, and pray that more people would call for banks to divest away from fossil fuels.

We pray for the 200 children who have gone missing from hotels whilst seeking asylum in the UK. God, we pray for the government to honour their duty of care to vulnerable asylum seekers, and for the missing children to be found and fully cared for.

We pray for Afghanistan, where over 100 people have died due to freezing weather. God, we especially pray for Afghans who may find it hard to obtain healthcare as they navigate a difficult winter, and for provision for all Afghans in challenging circumstances.

We pray for the people of Myanmar, on the second anniversary of the military coup in 2021. God, we pray for those in Myanmar suffering from the instability and violence of the current situation, and for greater peace and freedom for all in this troubled country.

We pray after the news that the world could break the Paris accords by next year, with nations at high risk of breaking the 1.5° global warming target. God, we pray for those who are and will be most affected by this temperature rise, and for greater cooperation to reduce the tide of climate change.
