Daily Prayers for our World

We pray for the people of Ukraine, many of whom are suffering this winter without heat and fearful for their safety. God, we pray that this conflict may be brought to an end soon and that the people of Ukraine are able to live in security within their own borders.

We give thanks for new alternatives to palm oil, with a lab-grown version recently becoming commercially available. God, we thank you for the ingenuity which has led to this alternative to palm oil, and pray that it will reduce the worldwide dependence on the highly pollutant palm oil.

We give thanks on the second anniversary of the entry into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. God, we give thanks for the treaty and its supporters, and pray that more governments will commit themselves to eliminating nuclear arsenals.

We pray for wildlife in Kenya, where killing quelea birds which have invaded farms due to drought is likely to harm endangered raptors and other wildlife. God, we pray that alternative solutions can be found for protecting crops in Kenya that will not damage the ecosystem.

We pray for the 1 in 7 Christians worldwide experiencing persecution. God, we pray for our brothers and sisters navigating unimaginable physical and emotional trauma because of their faith, and pray for greater protection and freedom of belief worldwide.

We pray for all those likely to be impacted by flooding in the South West, with a major incident having been declared. God, we pray for all those whose health or homes may be at risk due to this flooding, and that the impact would be minimised.

We pray for the 50 women kidnapped by suspected terrorists in Burkina Faso. God, we pray for protection and comfort for these women and their families, and for greater peace and stability for all those in northern Burkina Faso.
