Christmas Message from the Wessex Synod Moderator

As we head towards a second Covid challenged Christmas, the message of joy and peace can easily be lost amidst the concerns about restrictions in church, and the possibility of sudden changes to the rules about households getting together over the holiday period.

I’m probably not the only one who has moaned about what we have to do, or can’t do.

So my challenge to myself this Christmas – and if you want to take it up, then do join me – comes from Paul’s letter to the church in Phllppi.

The first part is to be joyful – “Rejoice in the Lord always.”

The second is about being able to hand things over to God, and let the “peace of God, which surpasses all understanding” guard my heart and mind.

Whatever the coming Christmas season brings, may you know the joy and peace of God in your worship, your work and your relaxation.
